Welcome To Troop 270 Germantown TN
Troop 270 is a boy-led troop and operates by the
patrol method. The scouts, with oversight from the
Scoutmasters and Troop Committee, plan and implement
the troop’s activities, including our weekly
troop meetings, campouts, and our annual summer
camp. Our adult leaders are trained in Scouting
policies, training skills, and safety; appropriate to
or exceeding the requirements for their positions
and for our outings.
Come join us. You don't know what you're missing!

Troop 270 a Success Story
Boy Scout Troop 270, was chartered in 1993 and
has about 50 active scouts. We have at least one
outing every month all year round and attend summer
camp. On some campouts we will learn scout
skills for advancement. Other times we will backpack
or focus on earning a merit badge such as
wilderness survival or pioneering. Sometimes we just
go for high adventure fun like snow skiing or white
water rafting.
Scout Advancement
We work throughout the year and at summer &
winter camps under the supervision of the Scoutmasters
on rank advancement. Boys are encouraged
to earn merit badges individually or
in groups or as a patrol. Many troop parents
are merit badge counselors. Troop 270 holds
semi annual Courts of Honor, where advancement
is formally acknowledged.

Adventure
On our outings the scouts develop camaraderie
and leadership. Our scouts learn and practice
outdoor skills like wilderness first aid, camping,
backpacking, cooking, and orienteering on our
campouts. Most of our outings are a few hours
drive leaving on Friday night and returning Sunday
around noon.
In addition to camping, Troop activities have
included:
• Canoeing and Kayaking
• Whitewater Rafting
• Backpacking: Beginning and Advanced
• Fishing
• Water Skiing
• Snow Skiing
• Indoor & Outdoor Rock Climbing
• High Adventure Outings: ask us!

Parental Involvement
Troop 270 encourages parental involvement in the
program. Regardless of whether you like to camp or
not, we invite you to volunteer to maintain troop 270’s
vitality. Whether it is helping drive our scouts to
monthly campouts or serving as an assistant scoutmaster
we have a special place for you. Parents participate
in the troop as patrol advisors, committee members
and board of review participants. Our parents
enjoy passing along knowledge from their work or
personal hobby by serving as counselors to teach the
boys the skills required to earn merit badges. Your
contribution is important to our troop’s continued success
and growth.

Rank of Eagle Scout
Troop 270 is proud that over 50 of its members
have reached the rank of Eagle since the troop was
founded in 1993. Our Scoutmaster and Assistants
are devoted to counseling our Life Scouts as they
work toward their Eagle Scout rank. We have two
Eagle Mentors to help Life Scouts navigate the
process to eagle scout.
